Brittany Burley, Executive Director of United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk, states, “We’re very excited about working together with Libro Credit Union and are thankful to be involved with their LIFT program.  We have similar core values and we’re both committed to making positive change in Haldimand and Norfolk.  It’s always great to see an organization that recognizes how important it is to give back to the community.”

Day of Caring at Norfolk Pregnancy & Family Resource Centre

Day of Caring at Norfolk Pregnancy & Family Resource Centre

On June 30, an amazing team of Volunteers from CIBC volunteered at the Norfolk Pregnancy & Family Resource Centre for the United Way Day of Caring.

It takes a village..

Several truckloads of unusable electronics, drywall, appliances, etc. were removed and taken for recycling and repurposing.  Donations of clothing & diapers were sorted and shelved in the Norfolk Pregnancy & Family Resource Centre’s Care Closet.  Pipes were painted and friendships forged.

Marie Mitchell of the Norfolk Pregnancy & Family Resource Centre states, “We at NPC are so fortunate to be a part of the United Way, as well, we were able to create a new partnership with the wonderful people at CIBC.   We look forward to working together with them in the future.  Thank you United Way, for such an amazing program like the United Way Day of Caring.”

Meaghan Bowler of CIBC states, “The Day of Caring is a humbling, gratifying experience to see your efforts directly reflected in making our community a better place for all!”

United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk’s Day of Caring events will be taking place in Haldimand and Norfolk counties over the summer.  “It’s wonderful to be able to immediately see the impact of your volunteer work,” states Brittany Burley, Executive Director of United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk.  “The volunteers from CIBC took on several very large jobs and everyone came together as a team to get this important work done for a very valuable community organization.  We are so thankful for their support and desire to make positive change in our community.”

Day of Caring at Haldimand Abilities Centre a Success!

Day of Caring at Haldimand Abilities Centre a Success!

United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk held 2016’s first Day of Caring event on June 22nd at the Haldimand Abilities Centre in partnership with Farm Credit Canada’s Simcoe office.  The event was a great success with volunteers from Farm Credit Canada working hard to beautify the sensory garden at the Haldimand Abilities Centre.  After a full morning of weed pulling, hedge trimming and more, the change was impressive.  The sensory garden supports the needs of people with dementia, vision loss and brain injury. It has great therapeutic and educational benefits and is helpful for dealing with disabilities that affect sensory responses.

“Thank you so much to United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk for connecting us with Farm Credit Canada in Simcoe,” states Lorraine Skarratt, Coordinator of the Haldimand Abilities Centre. “The team did an amazing job and made the Haldimand Abilities Centre garden look beautiful again. Their hard work was greatly appreciated and so many of our participants have expressed how happy they are to use the garden. We have some great programs for the summer and thanks to Farm Credit Canada we will be utilizing this lovely outdoor space.”
