Jail & Bail 2018
WANTED – Jailbirds for United Way’s Second Annual Jail & Bail 2018 Fundraiser
United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk is excited to announce their second annual Jail & Bail fundraiser to be held Wednesday, September 12, 2018. The Norfolk portion of this event will be at Governor Simcoe Square, 50 Colborne St. S., Simcoe from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and the Haldimand portion will take place outside Cayuga Foodland, 18 Talbot St., E. from 2 to 4 p.m.
Last year, Jail and Bail raised close to $15,000 to fund social programs including counselling, support for individuals and families with disabilities, programming for children and seniors, youth and adult literacy programs and more. Volunteers will be “locked up” for up to two hours, or until their “bail” is raised. Jailbirds will set their own bail and can sign up as an individual outlaw or as a team of ‘criminal masterminds’. Volunteers will confess to various crimes from ‘trafficking caffeine’ to ‘theft of office pens’.
United Way provides funds to programs that provide life-changing services to Haldimand and Norfolk residents,” says Brittany Burley, United Way’s Executive Director, “We need your help to make this fundraiser a success! We are looking for community members to volunteer to be “locked-up” for a good cause!”
Those interested in becoming a jailbird can contact Judy or at United Way for more information at [email protected] or by calling 519-426-5660.
