Kelly Morin-Currie elected President

Kelly Morin-Currie elected new president at 2015 AGM

PORT DOVER – The United Way of Haldimand Norfolk elected Kelly Morin-Currie as its new president during its annual general meeting on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 held at the Erie Beach Hotel. Morin-Currie, a Simcoe resident and Teachers’ Bargaining Unit Chief Negotiator with the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation District 23, had been the acting president for the past year.

Also elected to the Board of Directors were Sharon Armstrong, Michael Badowoy, Douglas Barber, Belinda Benko, Brittany Bray, Scott Buchanan, Brian Jones, Janet Moerman, David Sykes and Marie Trainer.

Over 75 people attended the meeting which included a fish and roast beef dinner courtesy of the Schneider family and Erie Beach Hotel. It was reported that the United Way fell just short of its 2014 fundraising goal of $450,000 which was an admirable achievement considering the campaign team was comprised only of board members due to the office being short-staffed.

Also at the meeting, the new executive director Neil Dring was introduced.

The United Way’s mission is to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action. It raises money for over 33 programs provided locally by 13 member agencies. For more information or volunteer opportunities, call 519-426-5660 or [email protected]
