We're Hiring

United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk is hiring two new summer students; a Marketing Coordinator, and a Special Events Coordinator!  This is a temporary full-time role that has been created in partnership with the Canada Summer Jobs program.

Marketing Coordinator:

– Work to develop and execute strategic communications plans.
– Develop and implement a Social Media strategy.
– Create News Releases.
– Update the website.
– Plan an advertising campaign.
– Design Marketing Material.
– Represent United Way at Community Events.
– Complete general office duties (as required).

 Required Skills and Qualifications: 
– Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, set priorities and meet timelines consistently.
– Motivated with the drive to make a difference in the community.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
– Strong written and oral communication skills.
– Must be self-motivated.
– Excellent Time Management Skills.
– Experience with Facebook and Twitter.
– Must be proficient with Windows-based computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
– Education in Marketing/Communications an asset.
– Experience with WordPress an asset.
– Graphic design skills an asset.
– Must be willing to get a Criminal Record Check.

 

Special Events Coordinator:

– Plan and facilitate community-based special events.
– Design a task list and create a realistic timeline for task completion.
– Identify necessary resources and create a plan to get them.
– Solicit support and sponsorship from community partners.
– Promote special events.
– Complete general office duties (as required).

Required Skills and Qualifications:
– Strong organizational skills with the ability to plan, set priorities and meet timelines consistently.
– Motivated with the drive to make a difference in the community.
– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines.
– Strong written and oral communication skills.
– Must be self-motivated.
– Excellent Time Management Skills.
– Must be proficient with Windows-based computer software, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
– Must have own vehicle.
– Education in Event Planning or Marketing an asset.
– Must be willing to get a Criminal Record Check.

Eligibility

To be eligible for these positions, you must:

  • be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment;
  • have been registered as full-time students in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
  • be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act2; and,
  • be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Position will be employed for an 8 week period, 30 hours per week
  • $12 per hour compensation
  • Office located in Simcoe, Ontario
  • Occasional travel throughout Haldimand County and Norfolk County may be required.
