{"id":413,"date":"2016-06-22T15:25:27","date_gmt":"2016-06-22T19:25:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/unitedwayhn.on.ca\/?p=413"},"modified":"2021-08-04T15:11:27","modified_gmt":"2021-08-04T19:11:27","slug":"day-of-caring-at-haldimand-abilities-centre-a-success","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/unitedwayhn.on.ca\/day-of-caring-at-haldimand-abilities-centre-a-success\/","title":{"rendered":"Day of Caring at Haldimand Abilities Centre a Success!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Day of Caring at Haldimand Abilities Centre a Success!<\/h2>\n<p>United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk held 2016\u2019s first Day of Caring event on June 22<sup>nd<\/sup> at the Haldimand Abilities Centre in partnership with Farm Credit Canada\u2019s Simcoe office.\u00a0 The event was a great success with volunteers from Farm Credit Canada working hard to beautify the sensory garden at the Haldimand Abilities Centre.\u00a0 After a full morning of weed pulling, hedge trimming and more, the change was impressive. \u00a0The sensory garden supports the needs of people with dementia, vision loss and brain injury. It has great therapeutic and educational benefits and is helpful for dealing with disabilities that affect sensory responses.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_263\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-263\" style=\"width: 840px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-263 size-large\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/IMG_1915-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"Volunteers from Farm Credit Canada visited the Haldimand Abilities Centre to help them beautify their sensory garden.\" width=\"840\" height=\"630\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-263\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Volunteers from Farm Credit Canada visited the Haldimand Abilities Centre to help them beautify their sensory garden.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><em>\u201cThank you so much to United Way of Haldimand and Norfolk for connecting us with Farm Credit Canada in Simcoe,\u201d<\/em> states Lorraine Skarratt, Coordinator of the Haldimand Abilities Centre. <em>\u201cThe team did an amazing job and made the Haldimand Abilities Centre garden look beautiful again. Their hard work was greatly appreciated and so many of our participants have expressed how happy they are to use the garden.
